Artist Statement
“Art has the power to reconnect us with the living world.”
Oscar's practice is shaped by observation, memory and the possibilities held within materials that might otherwise be overlooked.
Each work invites a slower way of looking—at people, at place, and at the environmental stories carried through everyday objects.
Creative Process
Long before the first brushstroke.
A thoughtful process of observing, testing, making and reflecting gives each work its material and emotional depth.
Research
Observation, references and material research establish the direction of each work.
Experiment
Sketches, textures and reclaimed materials are tested before a composition takes shape.
Create
Ideas become layered physical works through deliberate making and continual adjustment.
Reflect
The finished piece is considered within the wider story of culture, memory and place.
